LIFT: The Nature and Craft of Expert Coaching (Langer Bell Press)
Having lived and worked in the Middle East and Europe for most of his career as a Fortune 100 executive, Bruce Dorey now consults with C-level executives who work and travel among the world’s business centers. His lifelong interests in physics, psychology, coaching, and business strategy inspire the creative and practical new methods in his work. LIFT: The Nature and Craft of Expert Coaching is his first book. In it, he illustrates the types of work he does with senior executives to help build a coaching competency into their organizations by leveraging the existing “Experts” within their senior teams (hence the term, Expert Coaching). The founder of Bruce R Dorey – Consulting LLC, the author divides his time between Charlottesville, Virginia and Moose Lake, Ontario.
LIFT sets forth a bold new paradigm for coaching. Methodically, Bruce makes a strong case for transferring invaluable knowledge, skills, and a sense of craftmanship to the next generation of skilled professionals by creating an Expert Coaching culture within organizations.”
—Friderike Butler, Butler Communications, Washington, DC & Wiesbaden, DE
The book is essential reading as we hurtle mindlessly and aimlessly, conceit-filled, smug, glib and feeling blasé that every bit of information is within the Google grasp. Not so. Search engines cannot provide what metis can. We need the calm counsel of wrinkled faces that have put in the hard hours and responded to varying experiences and troughs in their long careers to come up with answers and wisdom of the bigger picture that is life.”

Even as a not-young person, I found it enjoyable and inspiring! She has lived quite a life, and made a number of non-obvious choices that have served her, and others, well. I’m grateful to know some of the twists and turns that have brought her to this place, where she can look back and draw useful lessons from her own experience.”

Dead, Insane, or in Jail: Overwritten (Not With The Program)
As Overwritten begins, the bounty hunter and an armed sheriff escort Zack back to Rocky Mountain Academy, six weeks after his escape. This time, Zack changes his tactics and stops overtly opposing the authoritarian program. Some kids crumble under the pressure. Others become “look-goods” who’ll do anything for approval. And young Zack may be kidding himself that he can remain immune to the coercive persuasion and thought control that permeate the place. With coarse, brutal dialog and authentic source materials, book two in this nonfiction memoir series takes the reader deeper into the vortex. Available in paperback and ebook formats. Featured in the 2018 Virginia Festival of the Book, Charlottesville, VA.
In Overwritten, the second volume of his well-written memoir, Zack Bonnie explains some of the standard methods of mind control used to break down people’s identities, to force them to dissociate, and to overwhelm them. I applaud Zack Bonnie’s bold, honest description of his journey through abuse. I commend him for wanting to understand it, dissect it, and digest it – and integrate it in a way that will help others.”

Making Art with Butterflies: A Jeanne S Coloring Book (Unique Lens)
This coloring book is a little different from what you normally see. These 88 images began their life as butterfly photographs, full of color and depth and detail. The author, Jeanne Schlesinger, a professional photographer, helped them evolve from photographs to drawings, so they have shadows, highlights, and many of the subtleties from their original photograph, now in varying shades of grey. What this means for you as the coloring artist, is that you have a great deal of freedom to determine how these pictures will evolve with color applied to them. You get to shape them with your own personal artistic style.
I love butterflies and this coloring book uses photos of real butterflies so it looks really 3-D while I’m coloring. I like keeping my mind focused on the different butterfly patterns. Even tracing the leaves that the butterflies are sitting on reminds me of coloring when I was a kid and how happy I was with my crayons. No more trying to make my mind stay blank during meditation (a few minutes seemed like forever). Now I keep this coloring book close by with some markers so when I feel stressed, I can have fun and focus on nature to unwind.”

Dead, Insane, or in Jail: A CEDU Memoir (Not With The Program)
Philip Elberg, who provided the Foreword to this book, is a litigator who successfully represented victims of Kids of North Jersey, a treatment center for adolescents with “behavior disorders.” Dead, Insane, or in Jail: A CEDU Memoir, the first volume of Zack Bonnie’s true story about a Troubled Teen facility, was featured in the 2016 Virginia Festival of the Book, Charlottesville, VA.The author was a featured speaker at the July 2016 annual Conference for ICSA (International Cultic Studies Association) in Dallas, Texas.
Book 2 in the series, Dead, Insane, or in Jail: Overwritten, launched in March 2018.
Zack’s well-written tale does a remarkable job of recalling his thinking and his feelings as he gradually internalizes the madness of his everyday life and the hopelessness of his situation. In the tradition of “Darkness At Noon,” Zack’s history puts the reader into the life that too many “survivors” experienced, and he does this in a finely crafted page-turner.”

The Art of the Q: Build Your Business with Questions (SalesTrainer4U)
Charlie Van Hecke’s new book, The Art of the Q, makes the case that we are all in sales! From beginning to end, The Art of the Q provides real-life examples and case studies, persuasively showing the reader how to make specific changes that lead to success, through relationships built on trust.
This fast-paced business book begins with basic questioning skills to help readers connect, engage, and understand their customers. The author provides case studies from 17 different industries, with examples, samples, and actual interactive scripts to improve business relationships.
His previous book, Target 10 To Win!, presents a focused method for increasing sales through a ten-minute daily practice. In The Art of the Q, Charlie introduces his readers to a wider view. He wants his audience to understand the human side of sales.
There’s a negative connotation associated with professional selling because sales people are always perceived as “pushy” and will do/ say virtually anything to sell their product. This book has a different take on selling. You want to be persistent as a salesperson, but you also want to listen and be empathetic towards the client. You want to sell them something that fits their needs and can benefit what they are trying to accomplish in their business. Another helpful aspect of the book was all the case studies. It was valuable to see how the concepts taught in the chapters were put to use in “real life” scenarios. In addition, all the acronyms made the concepts much easier to remember and apply.”

Lyme Disease: A Growing Threat to You and Your Horse (TrailBlazer Magazine)

Robin Bernhard’s Lyme Disease: A Growing Threat to You and Your Horse
This special report for Trailblazer magazine from Robin Bernhard summarizes recent research on Lyme Disease, Horses, and Humans.
A sneaky, ever-shifting foe, the Lyme spirochete most often transmitted by ticks has adapted to exquisite levels of adaption to elude its host’s immune system.
To complicate diagnosis and treatment, other microorganisms are also associated with Lyme disease. The pathogenic organisms that often accompany a Borrelia infection—Babesia, Bartonella and Anaplasma—are not your common bandits. They are top-of-the-line double agents on a stealth mission to dismantle the host’s immune defenses in order to perpetuate their own species.
To anyone currently living with Lyme disease, my advice, in brief, boils down to these three things:
1. Be prepared to face negativity from physicians who do not have adequate information about the disease, and try not to take it personally.
2. find a physician who is well educated in this area.
3. Learn everything you can. According to Peter Alex, the great German homeopath and author of The Homeopathic Treatment of Lyme Disease, ‘People shouldn’t count on their physician or naturopath to know more about Lyme disease than they do themselves.’I wish you good health.”
—Robin Bernhard
The Orff Essentials Collection (Brasstown Press)
The three Recorder Improvisation and Technique (RIT) books provide the guide to teaching improvisation in the Orff Approach – here applied to recorder teaching. As new notes are introduced, exercises in ear-training and technique precede specific assignments in improvisation. Folk songs and dances and short pieces arranged or composed for recorders and Orff ensemble supplement the exercises.
Completing the Orff Essentials Collection is Making It Up As You Go. The first collection of essays by Isabel McNeill Carley, this book gathers her best written work, both previously published and unpublished, in a work full of inspiration, commentary, personal memoir and incisive, helpful insights into teaching and the Orff Approach.
(The RIT books are) long-awaited new editions of invaluable material for music educators who teach recorder….They provide the framework for a curriculum designed to develop comprehensive musicianship”
—Leslie Timmons, American Recorder
This collection of twenty-one essays from the pen of one of our most thoughtful pioneers is a landmark publication. Altogether (Making It Up As You Go) is a collection to savour, to dip into and read in bits and pieces, or from cover to cover. It clarifies important, perhaps sometimes overlooked, understandings from the dawn of the development of Orff pedagogy and inspires belief in the model, and its ongoing relevance.”
